Hi,

I've picked up a number of Model Power's MetalTrain offerings and find them interesting.

The F-7A unit appears to ride a bit high on its frame, but runs very smoothly and with all that weight pulls very well. All wheels are powered and I think it is flywheel equipped. The detail is good, not great. I think the die-cast metal aspect is what makes them interesting pieces to own and collect.

All MetalTrains examples I've seen come equipped with knuckle couplers and the freight cars ride on nice metal wheelsets.

One thing I have noticed is that the freight cars do not perform that well with normal HO-scale rolling stock. This is due to the excessive weight of a typical MetalTrain freight car. If I run say the 40' Box Car in a train, I keep it at the head end of a train as they can cause couplers to pull apart or derail lighter cars ahead of them in a train.

Speaking of prices on the Model Power MetalTrains, keep an eye on eBay for some decent deals. I have seen a few MIB offerings that didn't go for much money. Seems not many have much interest in the MetalTrains line.

Was worried that Model Power also had lost faith in the line, but they are adding an Ore Car this fall. There are also a couple new roadnames coming for various pieces of the previous issued items.
