Hey guys. I picked up a set of Lima streamliners in Via paint a few weeks ago. I now have 5 Lima streamliners (3 Via, 1 Amtrak, 1 undec.). I like how they look and they run pretty well, but I can't seem to find any info on them. Does anyone here have any? Also, does anyone know the different bodystyles that were made?

Cheez, I can't tell you anything about your Via cars. I have a set of 2 Lima cars in silver lettered for Austrailian Railways that are the same style as yours. But my cars have the Euro style loop couplers.

I found out that AHM and Model Power imported some of Lima's trains. I checked HOseeker's catologs...I saw Lima's FP40 in a few of them, but no passenger cars.
I have 3 different body styles...one coach with skirts, one coach without skirts, and one that I think is a diner.

Thanx Ken. That second link was exactly what I was looking for.[:D] I'm kinda disappointed now though, cuz I was hoping they made an observation car[:(] Still, they're nice cars, and I'll need to try and find the matching engine and some more coaches.
I'll go take a look at the Rivarossi catalogs on hoseeker.

| Not too many observation cars in Australia. Those cars that Lima made were based on Indian Pacific (skirted) and Southern Aurora (non-skirted) cars. Neither of those trains had observation cars.

Hey B67. Thanx for the info. It's too bad they didn't make more body styles. I always find that if a passenger train doesn't have an observation car (end car not vista dome) it looks incomplete.

Yes, more body styles would be good. Lima made those in the early 70s I think. They were among the first Australian models Lima made. No more have ever been produced.
As for passenger trains not looking complete without an observation car, well that's just what you're used to I guess. Only a small number of trains here had them. Interstate passenger trains in Australia tended to have a Motorail car or two on the end instead.

Actually, most of the passenger trains I see dont have observation cars. Its probably just cuz most of the passenger sets I have, have matching observation cars, so whenever I see one of my trains going down the track with a door sticking out the back it just looks weird.[:D]

Hi all,
one more body style was actually made for the streamliners. It was a generator/baggage car, only available in Australian colours (Indian Pacific, Overland, and later The Ghan). But for the american market, there were only three.
