I bought a Durango engine number 5628 on ebay that was described "like new". You guessed it, it wasn't. He said it must have been damaged in shipping. Well, there was no real wheels on the back set, one wheel missing on the front set, a wire was broken and lots of other problems. It was not fit for "parts or repair" What I would like to know, is can I put this body on a newer engine? I really like the color scheme on the Durango and would like to get it running. Any ideas? Thanks

Hey jalopy. Your engine is a GP-20. I know some guys here have repowered Tyco engines using newer chassis, but I don't know of anyone who has repowered a GP-20. The inside of the shell is very narrow...it would probably be hard to find a chassis that would fit in it. The easiest thing would probably be to buy a second GP-20 off ebay and swap the motor into yours.
If you do find a chassis that fits let me know...I have a Durango engine with no trucks that I'd love to get running.

There's no reason you can't put a working set of Powertorque trucks into the GP20 shell. You could even put an old MU-2 set in it, if you have them. You might also want to start an eBay/PayPal dispute if the description was that misleading, unless you paid very little for it.The Tyco Depot
