I like the TYCO GG1's and they were making one in brunswick green. I don't think they released it but I know about a half dozen were made. Here's mine... -Bob

I have several Rivarossi GG1s, but they certainly don't have the charm of the Tyco ones...my one Tyco GG1.

Sorry no GG1 but it has 6 axles. This was covered with thick black paint when I bought it. My only example.

Well, I just saw a copy of this locomotive from an earlier batch of "Loco of the Week" ... I figured I got lucky with this one. Oh, well.
I had to clean it up and turn the binding motor right-side up. But, A Demo is A Demo!
Is $10 a good deal? The 25th of March I will give it a test run.

Cheers! John

Yeah, Mike. I was quite tickled when I saw it. Coincidence, I figured. I've yet to run it. Does it howl like the AHM ones?
And who made it? Well, I was gonna ask that same question, actually. It says "Made in Yugoslavia" on the bottom. It has a pretty clean fuel tank. IHC might be the maker seeings how it's quite clean, and solid I might add.
Mike, where in BC? This March is trying to go out as a cold lion! Or, perhaps an iced lamb! I'm in Kamloops.

Oh, I thought the Canucks were exclusively in BC... shows what I know.
But, I will let you know on my results after I run this thing on our layout. BTW, if you're interested in seeing our Kamloops train activity (model or prototype), go to YouTube and put "zebrails" in the search. Remember the "s" as zebrail will get you some other entity of videos.

Hey Guys,
Unless my memory is going, Model Power was the only company that imported that C628 in Alco demo colors. It was made by Mehano of Yugoslavia a while ago. The newer C628 runs imported by IHC should say "made in Slovinia by Mehano" on the fuel tank. Also, my IHC unit has all wheel drive as well as a can motor w/single flywheel. Mine runs well, especially when compared to my mid-80s AHM C628!

Don't be too jealeous! I would love to get a hold of one of those demo units. But they are not too terribly common! You can pick-up an IHC version on ebay for about $15 plus shipping, and they ARE common!
Another difference is that the IHC version has a change to the shell molding. The screw driver hole is gone from the IHC loco. That is the slot/hole located under the cab side windows where the cab meets the frame.

My apologies to the Tyco forum for my lengthy divergence into my newfound interest of British rails. That's what I love about this forum, people willing to share, to indulge, and help out. In the spirit of getting back to America, and to Tyco and its brethren Mantua, here is one of my favorites, not only because I love to see all those drivers going, but because it was given to me by my wife this past Christmas. Enjoy.

Dang, Mike... I used to have that locomotive, too! That good ol' Super Century. It came with railings, but they never did fit right. I got mine Christmas 1976, and appropriately timing, too.
Now, the ALCO demo...
I did run it today. After a bit of minor cleaning, this thing hummed around our layout. I didn't put much of a load behind it. But it is quite smooth... and has that classic dim howl, but much less resonance of an echo.
A good locomotive. My loco' will not carry knuckle couplers. HornHooks all the way. After all, those X2F's were NMRA Standard for over 20 years, I think.
Well, 'nuf of my blab... FORWARD... HO!

Is it a "Bachmann Plus" unit? Between a cheapy Bachmann and Bachmann Spectrum...
Just curious. I had a Great Northern Railway set (A+B) that ran quiet and smooth.

I dont think its a "plus"...I got it off ebay...no box....when I checked with the factory...there was no listing for this in the "plus" section...so I would say its between the trainset line and the plus line....but its an excellent locomotive...very smooth quiet and heavy no flwheels...but it has driveshafts to both trucks

I think your FT is from Bachmann's standard line of locos. The Bachmann standard line of diesels are very good! All have heavy cast metal chassis, 5 pole motors, all wheel drive and pick up. The B23-7 and H16-44 have twin fly wheels. They are quite good. I have several of them: B23-7 X3 GP40 X5 GP38-2 GP50 H16-44
The B23-7 is the same as the old Bachmann plus unit and the H16-44 is identical to the old Spectrum unit.
If you have an old Bachmann U-boat or BQ23-7, the newer B23-7 chassis are a near slip fit. I used a newer B23-7 chassis to repower my old BQ23-7.
