Hello again, I had a quick question about running the new Engines on old track with the old transformer, will it hurt them to be run with the old transformer. and vice versa with the older Engines they dont seem to run that well with the new transformers.

Your old transformer might put out more amps than the new one. The new one (if it is a trainset transformer) may not have enough amps to run the older locomotives.
Some of the newer locomotives will not run well with an older transformer that uses a wire wound reostat to control the speed. The motors draw such little current that as soon as you move the throttle to the lowest speed setting the locomotive takes off at full speed.
I prefer a powerpack with a transistorized throttle. They cost a little more but are worth it.

Piggy-backing on Rays,

The older locomotives may trip the circuit brakers sooner. I have also experienced the older packs getting newer loco's a head-start in rolling just as soon as the throttle is moved.

Some of the power packs (MRC in particular) have a "Pulse" selection. This is also a good thing because it does not heat up the motors as quickly as the other power Packs do. You could call it "Altering Direct Current" with the pulsing dc.

New engines on old track... well, if it's clean track, that's okay. Any hesitating would be caused by either dirty track/connections or dirty wheels.

Also, you can actually run regular HO scale trains on "Tri-Ang" track. But you will not get good results running Tri-Ang trains on regular track.

One more bit of information, and perhaps you already know this...
When looking to the numbers on the power-pack 0 through 100, they mainly represent the percentage of power out-put as opposed to "Miles Per Hour."

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
