My guess is Varney or Penn Line, or maybe Revell. I think it has a shaft running forward thru the fuel tank to the front truck, otherwise they wouldn't have put so much weight over it.

That makes sense as there is no visible shaft from the motor. I had guessed it had gearing down, but had not thought of a shaft running forward. I just assumed it had a single power truck. Thanks!

That's known as a tank drive, and it was very common back when the magnets in Pittman-style motors didn't allow a shaft at both ends. Hobbytown used that arrangement until they closed last year.
