I am also certain the water with the ship attached hinged down, and the bridge removeable. frank

"How do I fit that in that room?"
Who cares? The layout is awesome! I guess that would make your bed the canyon floor. George was a genius.

I'd love to have a bedroom like that I would do that, but I can barely get to my bed as it is O_o It is a pretty sweet design though.

You know, this seems to be less of "a layout in your room" and more "a room in your layout".
But if I could have a bedroom like this, I know I would! Too cool...

Hi guys:
George designed hundreds of layouts/trackplans and he left me the rights to them when he died. I have a hard copy of the original of the above design and the article scanned in so I'll probably post it and it's pictures. Might help clariffy some of that perspective drawaing above...

Hope these are helpful!?

A hotel suite in Tokyo Japan has a similar idea. Smaller version.

Nice if a USA hotel did this. Maybe there is one here.

Another beautiful suite in Japan.

Hopefully they still have those model railroad suites today for visitors to enjoy.

Interesting ideas. I like the idea of building cabinetry under the layout. I am skeptical of the lift out sections though. I've never seen one of those that wasn;t a major headache. If I were designing a layout like this, I'd find a way for the track to climb above the door to eliminate the liftout.

Most intriguing concept. As Japan has a large population and so little real estate, this is a genius solution.
Was perhaps prior to 1980's that it was considered "bad manners" to paint one's brass locomotives, as that would seem to be trying to upstage everyone else. Same with scenery: it wasn't done for that reason. Well, that changed, and the results are extraordinary.
