I got bored this morning and decided to dress up my USA express a little. It's was never really much good since I fixed it. I just got it running and threw it with the rest. Now, it's one of the best. I also added a rear light and some inside paint to reduce bleed through. It's an oldie, but it lives to it's fullest again. She'll be really good when I get around to the weathering.[;)]

Neat! Are you using actual traction tires or substitutes from another source? Nice job on the lighting and your test stand photos.

Hey Alco Fan,
Yeah, that's a good question. I'll tell ya if you don't laught at me, since I'm new to this hobbie (6 weeks worth). I found several sources for traction tires that work. The best so far is brace bands (elastics for braces) they are a perfect fit and only cost pennies compared to real traction tires. I've also tried fish aqauruim tubing that's cut to width (again pennies), but they need a little sanding for good grip. The other thing I tried was dvd motor belts work pretty good, but most people will not find them in abundance and they are kinda costly to buy. I work on alot of them and also spend time at the local trash dump ([|)] I know it's a lowly life I live) But you can sure find some good stuff if you think alot outside the box[:D]. Thanks for checking out my pics.. pid
I liked the USA so much I decided to do the Durango too...Just weathering it some too...lol There's so many cool things to do, I just keep bouncing around doing different things...

Nice weathering job on that Durango engine.[:P] The USA express is looking good too.
I actually use the exact same thing for traction tires...dental elastics[:P]. I save them for my good engines though, as I'm starting to run out. For my other engines I use hair elastics from Walmart. Where do you get your dental elastics???

I've got a friend that works at the dentist's office in town, They usually get them for me. It's good to have friends in just the right places, I never buy floss either [Yeah!]
