Good evening chaps. I have a box of AHM (Rivarossi) HO stuff that was purchased from an auction in the UK (couple of locos, lots of carriages) that I'd like to be able to identify. i think they have all been stripped down as they are all grey - what's the right protocol here - is it OK if I post pictures on this forum?
TIA.
Colin.

OK - thanks. Here we go.
Picture 1- marked as DM Diesel E8(E9) on the box, marked as Rivarossi underneath. Was (I think) Red, now Grey:

Picture 2 - no markings that I can see other than Rivarossi underneath:

Picture 3 - as picture 2

Picture 4 - I think this is a sleeper, but not sure (Rivarossi again)

And picture 5 - Rivarossi again

I also have two new body shells which I think are Athearn, but again would appreciate some identification.
Thanks in advance.
Colin.

The locomotive is an AHM E8, the cars look like a sleeper, coach, parlor car and RPO and those are definitely Athearn...a coach and an observation car. Hope that helps. There is a freeware program called GIMP that works really well for me, it will help bring those pictures down to a more manageable size.

OK - apologies for the size of the pictures (especially after I had been asked not to post big ones). My bad.
Remaining question - why are they grey? Were they sold that way or have they been stripped down?
Thanks.

Hi there...
The Locomotive was indeed stripped of its paint. You can see red paint residue embedded between the steps leading up to the cab, as well as in the air vents along the top sides. The engine may have started life as a Burlington unit. It may also have been built as an undecorated model that someone tried to paint, but didn't like the results and stripped off what they put down.
The cars all appear to be undecorated models, as the bodies look unblemished and all the glass in the windows are in place and quite spotless. Nice trains...great show find!
