My AHM/Rivarossi "Genoa", second only to the Tyco four wheel trolley as the model instrumental in bringing me to the hobby. The original disappeared in the fog of high school many moons ago. My only regret is that this model is one of the later ones with cast domes rather than the turned brass ones. It is also missing the turned and drilled flag holders over the pilot. I would mount tiny American flags in mine, these are cast on in plastic like the domes...sigh...

This seems to be what I'm starting to lean towards as far as collecting older HO trains. This an Athearn VIA RDC-3. I'm not sure exactly when it's from. It was modified by the previous owner and now has knuckle couplers and a motor with a flywheel. It has also had the blue and yellow stripes painted onto the originally bare baggage door...I may repaint the doors solid silver at some point...not sure yet.

Its got some sort of replacement motor. I googled it and found pics of another Athearn RDC with the same drive as mine...the guy who posted the pics put the new motor in so he could change it to DCC.

That Is one of the newer RDCs, Probably 1983 or newer. That is an Athearn motor with the Ernst gear drive. this is one I installed the Ernst gear drive in. I also used a can motor on this one. This is the modified one next to a stock old style drive. Ray
