I think this is the one TYCO used for their catalog shoots in the '70's.

Looks like the stock standard Athearn (or possibly Kader) high-cube, with the slots cut out to mount the Tyco chassis. Tyco NEVER applied end reporting marks or data on their cars, but this one has them.
A shot of the brakewheel end would further confirm it as "non-Tyco tooling".

In this case, yes it was. Another company's car painted in the other company's design. Tyco's own paint job looked nothing close to that.
The other incident that comes to mind, is the first time Tyco cataloged the Rocky Mountain SD24, they showed an Atlas shell that had been custom-painted. You should look to see if you have that one... I've always been curious to see it.
