(In the absence of a "general discussion" forum, I decided to post this here).
My family recently "questioned" my fascination with trains... and extracted a book outta me as it turned out. | That was a MOST enjoyable read, and brings me back to my own youthful fascination with trainwatching. There is so much more going on that just watching tons of steel and iron go by.

Hope she got a train set back in the day.
Train tickets probably around 30 dollars. Reaction and fun is priceless.

No young child seen but obviously this woman who works for Walthers Trains got interested in the hobby at a young age.

On Christmas Day I visited my former coworker and her family.
I had some excess model train items.
So I gave them to their almost two year old daughter.
The daughter liked both engines but preferred the Reading engine.

Three little girls raced around a model railroad layout Friday night at the Historic Train Depot on Seventh Avenue.
They were following trains as they vanished into tunnels and reappeared in different rooms.
Krista traveled two hours from Rock Hill South Carolina to bring her kids to the Apple Valley Model Railroad Club.
The club offers the Junior Engineer program on the third Friday of every month.
Newman's second youngest daughter nine year old Dorothy wanted to come for her birthday.
“We like it up here" Krista said. “They get to do something they enjoy.â€
The program started a year ago by members who help young model railroad enthusiasts learn about the hobby.
The kids participate in operating sessions where they run trains on schedules similar to those of real trains.
