Was reading some Model Train posts on Reddit.com a few nights ago, and ran across a posting about Roadside America, in Shartlesville, PA. Apparently they have a miniature human village, and a huge model train layout in O gauge. And get THIS, this place has been around since 1899 !!! Moved a few times, but seriously, that is some longevity. Northwest of Reading, PA, I've never been there, never heard of it until this week. Might have to go see it sometime. Anyone else on this forum been, and can give a good review of it? Looks like the Layout has some great era changes, and some unique animation, too. You can find it on Youtube as well, I think.

Went there in 2003 and yes it is an expeirence Far as I know Family still runs it

Also many a postwar and prewar train is on the layout It is large with a simulated sunset

All the builds I believe are scratchbuilt

Ok, I'll put it on my list of places to visit. There's a couple of train stores near York, PA, there is a decent model train shop in Reading itself, or was, and I'd love to go visit RA now. Thanks for the review, Thesiding.

Roadside America has closed its business. Will liquidate their collection. At least there are YouTube videos.

Thanks to Laurence Gieringer for starting it in 1935. At the present location from 1953 to 2020.

At least the collection will survive in many homes for years to come.
Not far from there is a similar layout in Strasburg Pennsylvania.
Choo Choo Barn attraction had similar scenes. Should open this spring.

Someone posted a recent video of the restored statues.

Looks like they were never damaged. Excellent restoration.
