This months Model Railroader(December issue) has an awesome layout of pop rock star Rod Stewart. His layout is 23 X 124 and over 1500 sqaure feet total. It is freelanced on the NYC and Pennsylvania RR's. The article says he has spent over 12 years working on it. This is a very impressive layout. All of his structures are kitbashed or scratchbuilt and hand weathered by him. He has many connections in this hobby and gives thanks to all the people from Walthers and several others. You need to purchase this edition to find out how he transports all of his kits he works on while touring to sold out shows and how the hotels accomodate his hobby. Michael Gross-- actor--Family Ties -- is an avid model railroader and promoter of this great hobby. He is also spokesman for The Worlds Greatest Hobby. Ole blue eyes-Frank Sinatra was a model railroader and train collector. If you have knowledge of other Stars or performers who pursue this hobby-post them here. The cool thing about Rod Stewart is he is very open about his model railroad-he says he is often asked by reporters in his interviews about his hobby and says - in a tone - they are amused that an entertainer plays with little trains in which he replies and tries to explain that the hobby is not like that at all. He says it is a difficult concept to explain to a person who has never seen a serious model railroad. He makes it a point to tell reporters also that it is an activity that encompasses a range of interests-developes a variety of skills-and engages the intellect on many levels. Quote from Rod "I pity the man who doesn't have a hobby like this one'. Rock on Rod

I remember seeing a photo spread of Gary Coleman's N-scale layout in either MR or RMC. I think it was in early 90's issue. Not sure if he still has it now. The article said he did not have time to build, so he had the layout built by a layout making company.
I also saw a short article on the layout shown on Mister Rodger's Neighborhood.
