These are Rivarossi (AHM) Docksides. One is Deluxe and the other a simplified version.

Hi Ray:
Thanks for picking up the slack. Holiday weekend here in the True North Strong and Free. Did I say NORTH? It was over 90F yesterday!!!!!!!!!
Any differences other than the siderods?

The main differences are the side rods and valve gear. The deluxe also have better railings. Some of the simplified versions didn't even have lights. The earliest version of the Rivarossi Dockside had a plastic frame.

My Contribution for this week is:
Yet another Athearn Hustler. This one was made in 1991 and right about the end of production for this favourite little beastie!

Boy that is a clean tidy Hustler! (Oxymoron!???)
C'mon guys roll em out. Lots of new guys on board, lets see your stuff!

Nice locos Guys. How much better do the newer drive Hustlers run than the original drive? Gotta love those old BL-2s. I swore I would never own one. Now I have 2 AHM and 2 P2K BL-2s. [:0]

One of only four locomotives I ever paid retail for. The others are Thomas the Tank Engine, a Marklin E94 "Alligator" and a Spectrum three truck shay...

Nice engine Shaygetz. I looked at the picture and it reminded me of this:
This is a Mehano Camelback. Its looks great, but I can't really run it, as its missing a giant piece of its cab (the pic is of its good side).

Nice, Cheez, that is one I'd like to add to my roster as well. Mehano and IHC do them nicely. What's up with the cab?

I got the engine second hand from a guy my dad works with. He had a 2 year old son and the trains were getting a little banged around. So to make a playroom for his son, and save the trains, he took down his layout and gave me a few of his engines. Here is what the cab looks like on the good side:
Now here's what it looks like on the other side:

I think you can see the problem. Its missing its bell too, but its a President's Choice engine, and they're almost famous for losing their bells[B)]

OUCH! Looks like some scratch-building is in order for the Mother Hubbard.

Now how would I scratch build half a cab?? Is there any specific way, or should I just look for an old junk engine with a similar cab?

I'd go for the junker or scratchbuild one. That cab is beyond help though the celestiary roof could be cannibalized onto anything you put there.

Swapping cabs would be easier. Does it come off as one piece? A cab from an AHM Casey Jones might be long enough.

I remember seeing a photo of a prototype Camelback with the side of the cab ripped off from a broken siderod.

hey, that an optimistic way of looking at a disaster! If an old discarded pullman car can be dethrowned and serve as someone's cabin, then the swiped cab just needs a little stage, and perhaps a hearse close by.
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
