Hey, well I was just rummaging through my dads old toys his dad use to play with and such, and I came across this train. And he would just like to know what it is called and any information about it he can get.. Anything will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

To me they look like the 1960s vintage Mantua 1880s cars.

OOPS, I typed the wrong year. What I meant was 1860. The cars are similar but have a different roof style. The 1890 ones like Ken's would have been pulled by the 4-6-0 and the 1860s the General.

That's a great looking train you have there with the engine and cars Ken. Man, I LOVE 1880's Celestory roof overton cars. I model 1962-1982 and I still have a BUNCH of those cars from various manufacturers. Any time I find them at shows or swap meets, they always seem to sneak into my bags.... [;)]

Yep, that's it.
I like the 4-8-0. I have an undecerated kit but haven't decided on a color or road. The D&RG looks nice.

hi spencerr hope you found something to help you if not try a larger photo.ken
hi tom and ray,it was a gift from a guy in states, for doing him favours for buying items which uk sellers would not send worldwide? its got pride of place in my heart, the coaches i got off ebay from advice given to me by members of this forum,i also have the roundhouse overtons in kit form, which are mint unmade, and a full set of the roundhouse 50ft barnum and baily circus set again unmade kits, bought when i was still making mind up on period and rail roads, but as i stated i also buy what i like, and what i see as a bargain to sell on if need be to pay for hobby, loco below is still my favourite mantua/matchbox have since straightened bell and light out ken

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
