Looking into buying some more brass steam and I am looking for some tips on painting engines. However, my main question atm is: Is it necessary to strip the whole model if the clear coat is intact and in good shape? I already have an airbrush, but if you have any tips on painting techniques I would appreciate it.

Tips and advice are greatly appreciated

Never painted brass before, but I've read in multiple places that you should strip the clear coat. Part of the reason would be that it fills in details, so you would essentially have too much paint on the model when you're finished, and some details would be softened.
