My Locomotive of the Week is a Model Power Metal Train F7a. These were made in the early 2000s as part of a line that includes a caboose, ore car, boxcar, reefer, tank car, flat car and ballast hoppr. Everything in the line was made of die cast metal, and these cars make the Mantua Heavies seem light. These are definitely cars you don't want at the back of a long train.
The F7s were available in PRR, Santa Fe and Canadian Pacific. They are a smooth running diesel with all wheel drive and a DCC plug. Sadly, Neither Model Power nor this line are being made any more. This is the second Metal Train F7 I own, the first one being a PRR unit that hit the floor and broke the pilot. It sits unused because I can;t get the replacement pilot, and until I figure out how to make a new one I;ll leave it on the shelf.
As far as pulling power goes, it is heavier than anything else I own, and I have no doubt it will pull my 20 car test train up the 4% grade. These things are brutes. All in all, it will be a welcome addition to my roster of F units, and I will be on the lookout for more of them.

| Nice find. I've never seen that style of MP box before. If you have time, please show us a vid of that engine pulling 20 cars.
