When I was a kid, the local Western Auto sold Lionel sets at Christmastime, and they would have all the consists out of the boxes and lined up on a display one above the other. If I was there for any reason, I'd spend the whole time just gazing up at those trains!

Here's the ROCO Polaroid Film car- I picked this up at a local TCA show for $5. The printing of many colors was too expensive or beyond the capabilities back in the day.

But times have changed and now we can make our own full color decals and this is where it is currently.

Now I just need ladders that fit the ladder holes and I'll call this a victory.

Was at a train show today and this thing followed me home.

It is a Tyco but carries the same road number and data as the older 40 foot box car. I didn't do any research on it yet, but does anyone have one of these?

Tyco Johnson Wax promotional boxcar:

It has “Shout” graphics on the other side but I apparently lost the picture.

“Tyco” Quaker Chemicals tanker:

Quaker promotional cars were produced by Tyco but the underframe on this one does not have the Tyco markings, so I suspect that this car was restored by using the underframe from a car produced by a subsequent owner of the Tyco tooling. It is also missing the dome platform. I intend to return it to an all-Tyco state.

gmoney,

I'm not familiar with that Quaker Chemicals tank car. What era (red or brown) is it from?

I believe it’s a brown box Tyco.  I wasn’t aware of its existence myself until I stumbled across it at a train show this past weekend.  I know Tyco produced a Quaker promo set but other than a 50ft boxcar (and now a tanker) I’ve no idea of its contents.

I saw that. It was insane. Why would anyone pay that? You could probably pay someone to actually make a custom one for less.
