I've been on vacation for the past week and so I was able to build another old Mantua locomotive. This Mikado was assembled from a bunch of old spare parts of various vintages and some others bought on eBay. The boiler, pilot, and cab castings are all diecast from the early 1950s. The motor I retrofitted is a Mantua Sagami unit from the early 1990s. The rest of the parts are a hodge-podge that could date anywhere from the 1970s up until when Mantua closed up shop in 2001, plus a pair of brass Cal-Scale #249 ash pans I added under the firebox. I painted everything prior to final assembly in the same color scheme as the Mantua Heavy Hudson I refurbished in November. Aside from the tender body, it's all metal and weighs almost 2 pounds. It runs like a dream, too.

Excellent paintjob and nice looking Mikado! Mantua steam locomotives are awesome. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." - Matthew 5:16
