At the same train show I got the Sakura 0-4-0 and the Mantua Little Six, I also got a beautiful little Mantua Shifter which someone added complicated valve gear to (seems like the one Mantua was offering at the time in the 50's/60's). After cleaning the motor, soldering the wire in place (the way Mantua seemed to do it where it just kind of hooks into a brass wire thing never worked that well, in my experience) and the places where the pickup trucks on the tender go in (never forget to clean those when you get these things!), as well as lubrication it runs quite nicely. Beautiful little loco.Oh yeah, and I got this girl for only $15.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

Beautiful locomotive. Love the full valve gear on those Mantua Shifters.
