On my 70's layout, I had these two paired up with the gondola full of train wheels. The gondola is Tyco & the Crane is Life-Like. One pic with the Tyco Burlington gondola.

This Mantua/Tyco 4 bay hopper car is my COTW. It came in the Tyco trainset that was my start in HO scale, on Christmas of 1970. It still serves in the capacity of a scale model on a layout that has moved on from trainset to model railroad.
At the time it was new, there was trainset equipment from Tyco, Bachmann, Life-Like, etc., and there was model equipment from the likes of Athearn and Roundhouse. This Tyco car has been modified with body mounted couplers, metal wheels and some weathering and stands on its own next to the Athearn, Roundhouse and Accurail equipment with which it shares the rails.
For me and probably many others my age, this ability to gradually evolve from trainset to model railroad lowered the bar to entry into a hobby of a lifetime.

Nicely weathered Tyco hopper, shaggy, and it is amazing how just 1 train or train car can hold so many memories.
