As a man true to my word, I said I would start a little project should the potential prepod shells I bought turn out to be duds. Sure enough they were duds. But really. One was the perfect starting place for a big project I've always wanted to do. Thus, I am proud to introduce the Tyco BC Rail C430:

I started out by grinding down a suitable replacement pilot, drilling holes for a pair of Pacific Great Eastern style ditch lights, inatalled a horn and then began the intricate nose and body paintwork. On this unit I intend to add vinyl letters to start, then eventually apply water slides one obtained. Or maybe I'll contact somebody on here who had mentioned doing some vinyl decals for me.

I do intend to add handrails, and potentially snowplows if I can find said items. This will be somewhat fantasy, as I don't believe any BC rail C425s survived into the red/white/blue era, but I like it so far.

Looking good so far. Can't wait to see what else you do to it!

Beautiful locomotive.

I'm currently doing the same to two of my 430's. Can you say WP & GM&O? ;)

Here's this unit tonight. I was going to do handrails, but I got too tired. I added the nose headlight. It's not going to be perfectly accurate, but it will still be quite nice.

I ordered 3 HO scale BC style snowplows, just like the BC MLWs had. I will likely have to trim them a hair to fit the Tyco coupler style.

Impressive work, A-A-Ron. The hand painted element of
your art makes everything from the fork lift to the locomotive
pop.

My finished up and lit up BC RAIL C430. I will be installing snowplows if possible later on, but I'll have to figure out how to fit one around a Tyco coupler pocket. I may add one to the shop C630 as well.

Thanks Alco Fan! I installed the snowplow yesterday, and it was a major improvement. It looks good now.
