Though my layout is set in the postwar (late 1940s/early 1950s) era, dump trucks have long lives, especially when a world war makes buying a new one infeasible. I wanted a couple of small dump trucks similar to the Ford model AA seen here: https://youtu.be/ZLx7O7Wr9rM
I didn't find one, but the Roco Minitanks line had a Russian army truck that, while it differed from the AA looked like a similar sized truck from the same era. Being plastic, it was not hard to modify into a small dump truck.
One dump truck is at a dumping ramp for loading gravel into rail cars. I saw such an arrangement at Potosi Station in Wisconsin where a quarry is a little way up a valley from the BNSF line along the Mississippi River.
The other little dump truck belongs to the coal yard. I had a coal truck, but it was the kind you'd use to deliver coal to the railroad from the mine, and much too big for delivering coal to homes. Here, an outgoing load of coal is being weighed:
I did this years ago and didn't photograph the steps, but it was a simple matter of cutting thin plastic into the parts of a dump bed and gluing them together with solvent cement.

Whoa, that is one cool vignette. That amazing truck definitely has a raw bone back woods feel.

I've probably still got one or both of them. I should hunt them up. They're small enough to fit into an already crowded layout, somewhere.

Several towns in my area are still running 80s Ford L-series dump trucks for Public Works Service. That's around 30-40 years. I'd say your doing great with that little gem of a truck. Looks great!

Very realistic Don. The vehicle has that simple nostalgic look.
