I recently won a lot of junk HO-Scale locomotives on Ebay for a good price, and although I typically don't invest in for-parts lots, I made an exception for a RARE Tyco GP20! Please enjoy this video which includes both unboxing and testing.

why is the GM&O rare? did it come out just before it merged with IC? Did it have a matching caboose?

It is rare because it was only produced for 1 year, and was never featured in any train sets. This also goes for the Northern Pacific Sharknose, Western Pacific GP20, and "Yellow Bonnet" C430.
No matching caboose, unfortunately. :(
Also, thanks Chops! Yes, a video will be out sooner or later, once I fix it.

But they probably made a million Golden Eagle C630s in that 1 year. I'm guessing they probably only made a few thousand GM&O GP20s. Probably one production run and that was it.

But, the Golden Eagle was a train set, and a very popular one at that. So, it isn't nearly as rare, or really hard to find at all - but finding it with the chrome in good shape is the tricky part.

The Illinois Central silver/red GP20 is probably the hardest one to find of those.

Yeah, I figured that version and the GM&O were really on the same level of rareness. I have seen one of those on Ebay once, much like the GM&O.....

Love the Aussie. Did Tyco make any cars or coaches for Australian roads, caboose, maybe? Or just the locomotive?

Love that IC GP20! Same for the Aussie F7.
Chops, to my knowledge, no passenger coaches or specific cars were made. They did make some matching cabeese for the locos.

And that's all?
None the less, I'd love to see what you got. Is it odd that Tyco would run a few locomotives and no cars, coaches, or cabooses?

1 year production run only + separate sale item only. The “rareness” of these is on the same level as the Western Pacific GP-20, but not as rare as something like the Northern Pacific Sharknose, or Cotton Belt F9.

Seek and ye shall find. HO Seeker, in this case.
Still, it is strange to me that Tyco would pursue this market, presumptively because it was nearer to Hong Kong, but not expand on the line with coaches and freight cars.
I did a sweep of Ebay Australia, and found only 25 Tyco items! All were US models. Did see an IC boxcar, which I never knew Tyco produced.

Completely agree, there. Rareness depends on what you compare it to.

Looking forward to seeing the new layout. That is quite the collection of the Aussie stuff, I was not aware they did switchers, too.
Interesting- the crane car has the VR logo, and the wrecking wagon the ATSF symbol.
