A few of my faves. A conundrum I have is that some of the train groups
were assembled to be run on the long runs of the model train club.
Now that I’m retired from the Club, and restricted to a 4 x8, some of
these trains are a bit too long. So either I let them collect dust
on the shelf, or I recycle them on eBay and use the funds on other
projects. I have in mind a small Old West layout- a little bigger than
Hart’s Mill using Eric’s clever bi-level technique, as well as a back swamp
Floridian branch line picking its way through swamps and jungle. But if I
sell them, there is always some regret as I put a lot of effort into them.

I also like modeling British OO. It gets a bit much, sometimes, it feels like having
a foot in two different canoes. The exceeding cost of international shipping
helps keep a brake on things. Tyco is anywhere from free to cheap, but
anything British is just about double, with fees and tariffs. Still, British
model rail is such a different animal and is so much fun. British modelers
frequently focus a layout’s theme on passenger service, sometimes exclusively.
Most North American layouts trend to freight service. Frequently, British
modelers would consider a 4x8 a very large space. Living areas, and real
estate in generally, are devastatingly expensive, and taxation leaves the average
Briton without much expendable income, so while popular, model layouts trend to
point to point shelf layouts, often less than a yard long and a foot deep to 3 x feet.
Like RP’s EVRR, what they lack in size they make up for in abundant detail
and brilliant track design.

Here, I focus on predominant passenger service:

Yes, operating multiple layouts at one time can get difficult - I can empathize, as now I own 4 different layouts. I never imagined running model trains on 4 individual, unique layouts, in both HO and N-Scale, when I ran those N-Scale trains under the Christmas Tree every year as a kid. Nevertheless, here I am.

If you ever have any locomotives or train cars you would like to part ways with, let me know, Chops. I might be able to help.

RP, your work has been inspirational to me. When I first realized the
EPVRR was a 4x4, I 'bout fell out of my chair. Here you are running
all this cool Tyco on this lovingly detailed layout, everything runs
without a flicker, and it is a micro layout.

I had been thinking about how simplifying stuff makes things
work so much better, and how a small layout can be as much, or
more interesting than a big layout that is constantly springing leaks,
if you will.

Having said all that, I went to some effort to expand Armodilloville
another 4x4 onto the existing 4x8, and though it worked, it just
felt overwhelming. I shrank the layout back to 4x8 and remastered the
main line to a set of double over lapping ovals, and this has been
just the right means of doing multiple trains requiring some
care and operational planning from the operator.

My garage has long stopped being a place to store automobiles.
And I want to do micro layouts for three other projects, including
the badly stalled out Subway layout.

To answer that question, I think I will be letting go some items. I
decided that generally speaking, it is a good policy to limit my
trains to a maximum of seven cars, including the caboose.
Some of the cheaper brands, and particularly AHM, has
trouble with more than seven.

So in the future I'll be setting up an eBay list and post it here.
I've done quite a few trades on the TF, and I"ve bought a
surprising amount of stuff- particularly from you- but almost
never have sold as much as a track spike on this site.
I'll be doing the cull as early as this weekend, and as late as
next weekend. I have found that starting everything out
with a 0.99 cent opening bid with no reserve is the best way to
move stuff along. No point in guessing what someone will bid.
They either will, or they won't.

Dab drab it, usually I can find away around that. I am promoting their product, not stealing it.

A person could be tempted to blurt out "Blarx!", in mixed company, even.

Thanks for the compliments regarding the EVRR. Yeah, in my opinion, smaller is better. Large layouts are incredible, to those who have the space for them, but keeping a layout small is the true challenge.

Ok, this one might go through. Sound track of a positively fabulous Russian Folk group that was up and coming before covid blew everything off the map.

Yes. And seriously, I realize that the horse paddock needs a proper
manure pile. I grew up with horses, don't have any love for them,
and neither they I, but how I could forget shoveling horse poop
by the ton, I just don't know.

Any ideas for HO scale horse manure??

The real thing doesn't scale down because of the coarseness of the grass in it, but maybe deer or rabbit manure could be chopped down to scale size and put in a pretty convincing pile.
