At first, I thought the locos on the sides of the box were Tyco, then I noticed they were all from the likes of Tyco, Rivarossi, and... Fleischmann? Truly bizarre... I need to look into this more.

Update: After looking them up, I found this.

It appears that this manufacturer is actually some hobby shop company in Mexico...?They appear to be using the same exact font as these boxes, too. What I'm thinking is that they got ahold of Tyco brown boxes and then just copied them while putting their own stuff on them. That's my best guess.

Another possibility Tyco began to "diversify" in the eighties Up to that point they made trains and slot cats HO RC was added in the eighties as well But by about 1983 Tyco made the Garfield Telephone and started to make other products NO hobby related This success gave them the means to buy Ideal quite easily along with GAF . As well as the success Dino Riders figure line After Ideal was bought out TYCO did WHAT Ideal was always doing making toys of diverse types games etc BUT NOW emphosos on the girls market in short dolls (Known as the Ideal Nursery to appeal to the Baby Boomers that ere female)and so on

As wel all know 1993 was the last year TYCO would make HO trains Since the examples you show are TYCO staples to the end a pssibility is they sold some of their inventory to Mexico i know some of the doll lines went to Brazil least supposedly and as any rabid hobbyist knows molds dies etc are reused all the time by different companies

Trenes could have been a sub outlat of TYCO But my two cents thinks this is repackage inventory from USA

(I know ALOT of "quirks in the toy industry model or otherwise as well as failed products)
