Split the chassis. Might be able to get a RC fuel tube in there to act as a second drive shaft,
but not sure it's worth the trouble. Trying to solder the chassis, which is the ground, to a
wire, but finding that solder does not want to bond to whatever the chassis metal is. I'm
not sure what that chassis is made of, cuts like steel, but would Athearn use such a heavy
duty metal for this??? I think I could beat someone over the head with this stuff, to good
effect, but it seems like this would be very difficult to mold or to press on an assembly
line. Maybe it is zinc and my blades are dull??

One cannot solder die cast metal.....

Drill a small hole in the chassis, use a small metal self tapping screw. Cleaning the head off of the screw with a file, use some flux & solder and you should be good to go....

Got it, thank you!!! And you're right, it will not solder!!!

This is what I'm up against right now: with a large blob of solder, placed before AF Kid put me
wise, a ground wire connects the two chassis halves. It is a brittle solder joint, at best.

The problem is that when power is applied to both trucks, different sides, it shorts. Why???
The positive/negative could not be simpler on these old BB's. There does appear, however, to
be intermittent contact between a positive plate and a grounding plate in this truck, but how is
that even possible that Athearn would make such an error?

Probably better off just to cut the connection between the two chassis, and have the one
powered truck do the pick up?

Dump the Athearn metal electrical strip. Solder the power connections to the top of the engine directly.
You don't need to ground the motor as the bottom of the motor is grounded by touching the frame.
The screw is for grounding the 2mm LED lights. This for a Am GK E60CP I have been trying to get the paint right- #5 try in progress.....

The pics should help.....

Thanks AF, as much as I thought. Not sure why I left
the strip on. Hopefully, will get this bird up and
running by end of the week.

We would love to see your E 60 once you get
it where you want it to be.
