My GP-20 and Alco 430 project is moving along, but I want to put new traction tires on the GP20 while I have things apart. Any information on size and where to get replacement tires and even wheels? The size looks like OD 10mm and 1mm width for the old tires -- they were clear.

The Shark Master (aka RP Model Railroads) and I have good success with cheap Goody's Hair bands. Available at Walmart, in the hair aisle, a dollar will buy you like a double life time supply of hair bands that make perfect traction tires. Use the smallest of the assorted sizes for diesels, larger for steam locomotive drivers.

Indeed, Chops. I have. The only thing is that the Goody Hairbands will not last as long as Calumet Traction Tires for example, but at such a cheap price, that really isn't a drawback.
As far as the actual "wheels" go, I have a ton of spare PowerTorque and MU-2 style motors/trucks in my parts cart. I could check to see if I have what you need.

Awesome idea! All the ones I have found online for Tyco are round and black and not like the ones I pulled off (clear and flat). The hairbands measure the same size (OD 10mm; ID 9mm; Width 1mm) and no trip to Walmart needed. When I finished with motors, I will test it out and repost. No need for wheels yet, looks like they just needed a good cleaning so far.

Goody's are cheap and you get literally a double life time supply. The only thing is that they always twist a little going on, and this causes a little wobble, but not too bad.
I usually end up having to glue the truck side frames back on because the plastic tabs long since dried up.
Not infrequently the plastic diesel wheels may have developed a split from axle hole outwards. When I find this defect I dab a drop of super glue on to keep it from getting worse.

I have to ask, is there ever any need to actually remove the sideframes of a PowerTorque truck when the whole truck frame only screws on?

Good question. If, as with the Tyco side frames, there is nothing blocking the wheel, then certainly a traction band can be looped on. My issue is finding the right tool for that job, so I end up popping off side frames, losing the tabs and having to reglue.
If anyone can suggest how to do this without sacraficing the side frame tabs, I am all ears (and thumbs).
