* My other Rivarossi 1955 Southern Pacific Atlantic 4-4-2 has been giving me many problems in putting it back together. Someone in the past has done some maintenance or repairs to it and now those repairs effect how I can disassemble and reassemble it. When I got it nothing was put together tightly all screws were loose so the gears would not turn the drive. I held the main castings together with the drive axle and gears in place and was able to turn the mechanism a few revolutions by hand. There is hope for the old rare locomotive to get it back and running. The drivers have been replaced with smaller ones by the previous owner and this was no small task to find smaller replacement drivers that fit this locomotive. This old locomotive is made with early plastic that becomes very brittle when the castings are thin like in the driver spoked centers and places where threads are in the plastic. Bake-O-Lite plastic was used in this locos manufacturing. The original castings were designed and made about 1950 by Rivarossi. The body with cab, frame, and front pilot all in appearance are very good as is the original paint. The lead and trailing truck are also good. I give it another try today to assemble it again. frank

Some tired out yellow box warriors showed up here recently, three different Athearn Hi-F locos from 1957. SP geep came in a box lot that I bought for other things, but turned out to be a pleasant surprise with all its small parts intact. Found the ATSF F7 and geep sitting together on the shelf at a local pawn shop yesterday and for $10 for the pair I figured it was worth giving them a home. The ATSF geep is the rarer original version with the stripes all the way up onto the cab and the "&" in "AT&SF". All three will get restored eventually.
Seeking a set of handrails for the ATSF geep. Thankfully I have plenty of replacement hi-f drive bands--in fact, if anyone needs some, lmk and I'll share.

How long your club been around? Fewer and fewer cities have fixed model railroad clubs.
