Hey Guys:
Does anyone have an IHC version of the Tyco Center-Flow Hopper? If so how does it stack up operationally? Is it a better "roller" than the Tyco. what about paint schemes?

IHC did a run of the Covered Hopper in last 6 or 8 years. They are essentially the same the TYCO models. Don't think they run and different. IHC did a great number of paint jobs and many were very prototypically flavored and the paint was nicely done.

Hi Tony:
I see lots of IHC 3 Bay 54' covered hoppers on Evilbay but no 4 bay covered. Strange!?

In March of 2000, I noticed IHC "closing out" this entire line, comprising the original Hong Kong Tyco molds.
I've posted about this before, but no one ever replied...not so much as a "eh, whatever."
I was wise enough to wait until the prices would not get ANY lower, and then I went ahead and bought the ENTIRE line...all 89 cars...covered hoppers, ACF hoppers, cabeese, open hoppers, 50' plugs, 62' boxcars, 40' chem tank cars.
The paint jobs on ALL of 'em are, in a word, STUPENDOUS.
IHC outdid themselves with nice, colorful prototypical roadnames. Imagine a FEC 50' plug...Florida Gators blue w/white plug door and the FEC "hurricane" logo...or a GN "Goat" 50' plug...turquoise w/a bright red door...and a big 'ol "goat" logo.
Mix all of these in with Tyco's billboard rolling stock...and you have yourself a yard of VIVID color...and close to 200 cars, to boot.
Brings a tear to my eye, I tell ya's.

Yes, those recent IHC freight car paint jobs were really something. Believe I was told by someone there that the same factory that did the McFarland action figures did the stamping on those cars. Print work was sharp and colors well in register. Would like to see IHC run more again with new roadames. I bought all the Covered Hoppers and 62' Hi-Cubes and wished I picked up more of them.

I remember seeing most of the IHC re-releases at a short-lived Train Store-Warehouse off I-65 near Lafayette, IN. The paint jobs really were incredible... the type of stuff Tyco should have done to maintain cred.
Sadly, they were out of the tank cars and center flows, and those do not turn up often, which speaks to their quality and scarcity.
ThOR, what were the roadnames available on the Center Flows and PS Covereds?
BTW I posted a couple of the IHC HighCubes in the HighCube comparison post...

| Thanks for that list. There's a few on there I would actually run with my more "highbrow" equipment. I saw a listing for a couple BN CenterFlows that looked AWESOME... but they were in Australia.
