Had a fun time at ye olde model trayn club with some of the guys Thursday last. This is what we got up to:

I was thinking about the year Amtrak came on line, 1976. A year later I was on the "Montrealer" which originated in D.C., ran the length of Vermont, and terminated in Montreal, which is where I got off and traveled west to work that summer on a beef ranch in Ontario. I believe the head end power for my trip was a FP40H.
I was thinking maybe railroads had to patch together whatever head end power they had on hand, so me and the guys did.
