My railroad hauls a lot of paper products and I needed some wood chip hoppers. However, I am NOT willing to pay the price people want for the HO chip hoppers from Walthers, Athearn, etc. $70+ for a single car!!!! No thanks. I came up with idea of some converted quad hoppers to help me build a fleet. I also am working on some converted box cars but I'll share that later. So, here is some of my ongoing project to take train set (AHM, Life Like, Tyco0 41' gons and "weld" them to the top of (Athearn, Bachman, Tyco, Life Like) 40' quad hoppers to make a shop build wood chip hopper. They serve my purpose well and I have less than $10 each in these.

And the weathering/aging is also fantastic. Looks like the real thing sitting there. Good show.

A magnificent piece. And like the prototype, you used what
was on hand and didn't pay full price. If you can, we'd really
love to see some pics of this paper hauling pike.

I sees Woodchip cars still plying the rails
but they are more of a rectangular shape

I really appreciate all of the positive feedback. I am not a rivet counter and just love to tinker with stuff. I love making something unique. I finally joined this site after looking at it for a while because of all of the creativity on display. You guys are in it for the fun and that is what it is all about.
