try vice grips.
Got most of Smeltertown up and running, including the much abused Ferris Wheel. Some details to be added, but my last major head ache was this corner of track which consists of Atlas code 100 flex placed into a routed out wide groove, nailed into place, and then covered with multiple layers of gray bath tub caulk. I used caulk because I needed it to have some flex and was afraid plaster would crack and fall out. First built in 1998, it has seen dozens of exhibits and the track has always worked well, until now. A snake head started developing on this corner section (the radius is about 9 inches) causing the trolley to derail. So I gently tacked it down and applied a thin application of JB Weld glue to the outer rail, which seems to hold in gauge. But then it was still a little tight, so I used a hammer and a screw driver, as sort of an awl, and gave it couple swift pounds to wrest it back into shape. The trolley jumps a bit going over the gap, but otherwise stays on the rails. Hope this works, got another exhibit coming up Saturday in front of God 'n everbody!

PS: I added a lump of lead to the interior to give it more trackability over this rough spot, and found that Bachmann isn't using those crummy Pancake Motors anymore, the new one is the same transmission and a small open frame motor. As I have cooked at least three Bachmann trolleys over the last 19 years, hopefull the open frame design will give more durable service. Again, Bachmann really has to smarten up about their motors and transmissions. Hope this is in the right direction... Like RP, I am not much for static displays, I want this stuff to run and run.

Interesting resolution there, Chops. I do hope it continues to prevent issues with trolley track.

Hours of test runs, and the busted rail joint worked fine. Then on show day, it worked its way out again, and the trolley wouldn't pass it without derailing! I pulled out a hammer and a screw driver and tried pounding it back into place, no luck.
Then I had a flash and removed and reglued this Mexican orange truck right at the spot it came off the rails, and voila! It worked! As the nose of the trolley lifted off the rails it would subtlety bounce off the truck and back onto the rails. I can be smart when I have to!
