Let's get this party started. I was reflecting on RP's search for an SOS Tyco Boxcar, one of my favorites, so I started digging around in my stash of Tyco Billboards for it, but came across this gem. It really epitomizes my love affair with Tyco. Aren't these graphics the bomb?
Many moons ago, I had invited Johnny over from the Model Train Club. A pleasant, fellow, he brought his trains to my layout of that time, a 4 x 10 Yucatan themed affair, and I noted the wide variety of colors. I asked him if he focused on a particular road, or era, and he replied he collected based on color. I'd never heard this one before, and did not realize he had helped light a fuse with my later Tycomania.
Not a happy story with Johnny. When I saw him about ten later, he showed up at the Train Club a lost soul. Disheveled, ragged, living on the edge, on hopelessly addicted to drugs and alcohol. His train collection long gone to pay for his habit. Very sad how those things can drag a good man into the gutter.
Anyways, here 'tis:

A bit sad to hear a guy on hard times like that. But it happens. My COTW offering is a pair of hoppers, all metal. Might be old Varney, or English, not sure. NO markings on them on the bottom that I see.

I don't know what solar eclipse or alignment of the stars is causing people to find old Railmaster kits from the early 50s today, but those two panel side hoppers are definitely their work! I've encountered a whopping three kits from this company, ever, so two different posts of them in one day is messing with me.

Nice all-metal hoppers, Jerry! And, Chops, very sad story, and I agree, Tyco's Billboard cars are the best!!
Here's my COTW offering:
After years of searching for a good price, I FINALLY own a Tyco Bethlehem Steel hopper, which I obtained on Ebay for only $10.00!!!! I can't believe I finally have it.......
It is seen here as part of a freight haul on RETRO TYCO, but soon will be moved to operations on the Ephrata Valley Railroad.

PA FOR THE WIN.

Oh, Canada! Land of my youth.
That Bethlehem hop is a brilliant find. I have never seen such an offering, ever.

* Here is a car I got at the Franklin train show. About the Franklin shows location. It is in Northern Jersey in Sussex County, up off of US RT 23, past Butler going north. Franklin like the name Washington is a common name and is found all over the state. Now the car is a wood tanked Vinegar transporting tank car. This is a newer plastic car that was still made in a kit form. I am not sure who made it. I think F&C. I finally have one I can run. frank

It is the same car as the Ambroid kit, I had no idea either that somebody'd done one in plastic (or more likely resin). One of us will have to check the F&C catalog to see if it's one of theirs, I'm curious but I'm too lazy to go look lol.
I'm still tryna get one of the Ambroid ones myself
