MAJOR UPDATE - The Piggyback Loader & Unloader Accessory has been installed and is working!
So, last week, I prepared by cutting a small piece of scrap plywood, and affixing it to the edge of RETRO TYCO with Sticky Jack Glue. I then screwed in a "support beam" underneath the makeshift shelf.

Upon receiving the Piggyback Loader and Unloader in the mail, I installed it and it fired right up. Unfortunately, the USPS broke off one of the forklift arms in transit...so I had to glue that back on with liquid cement. The Piggyback Loader & Unloader looks and works awesome! Another great Tyco product.

LOL...well RETRO TYCO #1 will soon be no more...
Got a lot of great deals, as usual, from the Nicholas Smith Train Store - surprisingly nothing caught my eye at the outside tent sale (it was filled with mostly larger scales.) AND it was 15% off everything used, a sale I didn't even know they had.
Without further ado, here's my loot:

Notables include:
- Model Power Pennsy F2A - 4 Tyco "Red Box Era" Western & Atlantic coaches - Tyco Westinghouse Appliances box car - Tyco log car

Whooa Nelly, Sunday came early, and thank you for that. You now have a complete, more than complete consist for the Hershey Geep.
Your expansion seems to be creeping outwards in bits and pieces. Are you planning on adding a table, or just in chunks? All good.

Agreed, Chops! Can't wait to do another Hershey's Train video....featuring that GP40.
Regarding RETRO TYCO - I am now calling it "RETRO TYCO I" since upon building RETRO TYCO II, I will transfer all Tyco accessories and trains to RETRO TYCO II, and then dismantle the present RETRO TYCO. So, a big expansion is underway.....

You certainly have added more to your collection Robert. I see why you need a new layout to place more items there. Look forward to your progress. Maybe one day we will see your new N scale layout as well.

RETRO TYCO I, as it currently looks. It is due to become "Tyco Speedway" in the future.

Look what arrived in the mail today....

That's right! I finally got a Tyco "Dixie Belle" Western & Atlantic 4-6-0 steamer, definitely from the "Red Box Era!!!" This is the 2nd Tyco steam locomotive in my collection, and it runs excellent (as expected, with its MU-2 style motor.)

However, the traction tire on the drive wheel was dry-rotted and has since come off upon operating the locomotive on RETRO TYCO II. My question is...how can I install a new traction tire, or 2, on the drive wheels, when there seems to be no way to remove the wheel/axle assembly from the pistons. I definitely didn't want to break anything, so I figured I would ask first, as this is my first Tyco 4-6-0. Any help would be appreciated.

So, does that mean I can't install traction tires?

All that's in the way of the traction tire is the connecting rod to the rear left driver. That's held on by the brass hex-head screw that serves as a crank pin. Be nice to that screw. It's kind of special and probably hard to replace. Mantua made a special wrench for that, punched out of thick sheet metal. Bowser used to supply a screw with a head to fit a 3/32" Allen wrench. That screw is the perfect socket wrench for those crank pins. So, if you can find a screw who's head fits a 3/32" Allen wrench, you can take off that crank pin and the wheel will be wide open for traction ring replacement.
I think the traction tire is a rubber O ring with the rubber 1 mm in diameter and the ring being a little less than the diameter of the wheel.
