Thinking about building a western theme layout using Tyco/Mantua trains. Anybody here a layout that is a western old tymers layout with just 4-6-0, 4-8-0 or Generals for motive power and set in the wild west? I am on the hunt now for the Bumble Bee 4-8-0 and a can motor repower kit for it(helix humper or the Mantua motor out of recent model that can be adapted). That along with the old style rolling stock and some Kibri western buiding kits. Lets see what you all have done! Mike the Aspie
Still NT's, I have Aspergers.

Sounds most creative. FYI, I've owned a few AHM generals, and
a Bachmann or two. My general experience is that the locomotives
did OK for a small loop of track on a diorama, but generally
were cranky and prone to poor electrical pick up from the
tender, and the tender mounted motor didn't help any as
it created a wobble that further exacerbated the conductivity
issue. Here are two videos, the first being a diorama I did,
the motor is in the cab, in an older AHM version, and
the second is my bud's Bachmann General, with
sound, and for now it is a smooth operator.

Chops, the old timer you're running is a 1974- Pocher 2-4-0 Bowker. This was the last production
model that Pocher made. They were distributed by AHM/IHC here in the U.S.

Here is an overview of my layout of the town of Sewat. (pronounced Say Wat)

As far as locomotives and rolling stock, that is about all that I have. Mantua, Rivarossi, Pocher
and a few Japanese models. Most of my rolling stock is Mantua, Roundhouse and a few other
brands (like Hi-Ballers, Laconia and Binkley).

My buildings are all wood and plastic kits (such as Suydam and Campbell's). There are a few
scratch built as well.

The layout is still a work in progress as I still have a few structures to get built before I
finalize the town and scenery.

Thanks all. I have been working on this layout (mentally for over 5 years) for about 3 years now.
Didn't start until I retired 3 years ago and was able to devote the time to it.

Buss: I have a Hotel/Restaurant waiting to be built. I don't like the plastic models because the
wood ones look so much more realistic and are more fun to build.

Will post some photos of the locos and rolling stock as I get the time to fix them for the forum.
Most are too large right now.

P.S. The name "Sewat" is rumored to be an native word for "stupid white man" as the town was
founded on top of a very old indian dumping ground.
