Over the weekend I installed four big red arcade-style push buttons on the railroad. These are for my visitors, young and old to interact with the trains and scenery. I like this style of button because they are large and easy to spot and very reliable. I used a 28mm Forstner drill bit to cut the holes for them.

These particular buttons have LEDs for lighting. I used a 1K ohm drop down resistor for each one and connected the LEDs on a separate power bus.

The accessories connected to the pushbuttons are a Tyco steam whistle, a sound chip recorder with a recording of sea lions, a Faller water mill, and a Hallmark Keepsake ornament.

The push buttons are about $2 each and I got them from Amazon. They are called "Reyann 5v LED Illuminated Arcade Push Button"

You are correct. Dopey is AWOL! I have no idea where he went. I'll have to make a replacement Dopey out of FIMO or something like that.

In any case, I plan to have a mine diorama underneath this with the dwarves digging out diamonds and rubies, so I'll need to make a bunch more dwarves anyway

I rather liked the seal under the wharf: nifty touch.
