Hello All, I Just rebuilt an old Mantua 0-4-0 Booster that I purchased in parts. Everything was put together correctly, and I even checked it against another complete one I have, but this one runs the opposite direction when track current is applied. I’ve got the wiper contact touching the correct brush (post) and the other brush connects to the frame, just like every other Mantua. I don’t know the history of this motor...will a magnet installed incorrectly create this condition? Adams

Yes. A polarity change or a incorrectly installed magnet will do that.

Where you running now, Justin? Hit any snow storms? Watch out for black ice- need I say more. I once slid down a mile of I 95 in Vermont, sideways, in an 18 wheeler. Didn't get a scratch, but it was a ride I'd never want to repeat. God looks after fools and babies.
Would like to see a photo when u get ur Ipad fixed. You built a booster out of parts- wow!

Well, that was it! I flipped the magnet and it runs correctly. From the rust, it doesn’t seem that the magnet had ever been messed with, so maybe a factory mistake...if I can just figure out how to post pics saved on my iPad (they won’t upload off this device for some reason, I’ll post a pic.
