Shockingly, this old Lionel with Hobbytown drive performed magnificently this morning. Will post some video later. A fine, steady, strong puller, she desperately deserves some decent catenary to complete her look. "Air" catenary is so BORING. Those of you in the know, the real EL C had three axles, not two. BUT this numbered and lettered for the last extant CR prototype. These tanks served under Virgian, hauling coal, the New Haven and Penn Central pulling fast freights, and lastly under Conrail blue. Magnificent, long lived, steeds.

Chops, I hope you find this interesting: There is another E33 at the Virginia Museum of Transpoortation, VGN #135. I believe thet the Illinois Railway Museum will be painting the 4601 (ex VGN #131) in New Haven livery. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg has the E33's cousin, the E44, former PRR #4465. All worked for Conrail and Penn Central at some point in their lives. None of these pictures belong to me:

NICE Conrail E33 Chops! Actually, I have seen the restored Pennsy E44 "The Brick" locomotive at the Strasburg Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania...several times!
Here's my LOTW offering:
A Greenberg's Train Show find, from this weekend: a vintage Varney Burlington RR F3 A & B set! I lubed it with Liberty Oil, which definitely improved performance, but check out the video below which illustrates how the F3A slowly hogs power while gnashing-at the rails. These will be the very first Varney's I've ever had, and will definitely be added into the roster of locos to serve on my HO-Scale layout.

In about this order: Wow, argh, argh, and argh! Fabulous Varney's. Very special pieces. I read that Varney was a predecessor of Life Like. Those three Canadian pieces are wicked cool, my favorite being the GP 20 by Micro. Micro- I could just ****.
Oh, while I'm hinting at profanity, that little French job is a gem. I am going to sell all my Tyco junk on the Trading Post and switch to French stuff shown by Toptrain.

My LOTW is this rare variation of the Gilbert HO 446 whistling hudson. There are only 4 confirmed examples of this engine known with factory aluminum drivers and pulmor. All four engines share the same late 1957 build date. I now own two.

Pictured below, front is the first aluminum driver 446 I bought in 1998, middle is the second one I just bought and in the back is the standard 446 with white wall drivers.
