That brown juicer- Italian State Railways or something? Love that peculiar articulation and the flame red pantagraphs. How's that one run? I recollect seeing it from an encyclopedia of model trains from the 1960's. Great stuffs, all.

Notice how the pipe passes through the sand dome. You'll always have nice, dry sand to spread on the rails.

I would have thought a pipe in the boiler would be hotter, and thus the steam would be drier. Seems that an exterior pipe would invite condensation, particularly in winter. Is there something I am missing here? Just wondering outloud.

more space for the steam inside the boiler (to seperate steam best as possible from water to keep it mainly dry) used on engines before they got super heated

Here is a ROCO steamer that I got at the Timonium Maryland train show 2-3-18 last Saturday. It is missing the coupler on the rear. and the coal shoot. I am having trouble getting a coupler to fit and work on the rear of this loco. The loco really runs well. * The model with this number was made from 1981-1984, and 1984-1986. Other numbers released in the same time period, possibly with different road names, or paint schemes were 058, 380, and 389. In this same production period for 93-374, ROCO released 2 models of the same loco in French liveries, 1-4-1 501 and just 4301. This 93 class 2-8-2t was also produced until 2011, then in 2014, and the last time in 2016. all these had different numbers. There are a lot of this model class 93 trains out there for someone looking for one. *** ROCO 2-8-2t, 93-374

loco looks great Frank! I also sent you two europian "standard" couplers you can put in a US coupler pocket. maybe for a transistion car .
dont be confused about the various euro couplers , now we have the NEM coupler pocktet (since about 25 years) all other couplers are vintage.

OK, Frank, but you owe me some of that E-636-045 under power. I have a weird fascination with that particular piece. It rather resembles the locomotive that took us from, and I am serious, from Leningrad to Stalingrad in or about 1965. The head end. as I recall, was just about that color and had a big Soviet star on the front. Yeah, Dad had a different idea about family vacations. Lucky we didn't end up on the Mosquito Coast.
Anyways, that article on tension and NEM couplers was interesting, Erich. Electrotren uses a coupler that closely resembles the NEM, if not exactly an NEM, and it works fabulously and is durable as granite. Love it. By contrast, my Bachmann stuff, in the particular, uses that tension coupler and buffer bar and it is lousy. The plastic buffer bar and plastic hook tends to bind and derail the wagons on any turnout and curve, when it feels like it. Hornby is a little better. Considering applying a drop of plastic safe oil to lubricate them and maybe the hooks won't grip so much.
I tried utilizing small chain on three Triang double bogie coaches and am not having much luck with that. As soon as it winds into a corner the lateral pull derails the coach behind the first. Am going to see if I can weight it down sufficiently to hold it on the rails.
