Athearn has pre-production pics up on its website now for the coming SD40T-2 tunnel motors...

Here's an early shot of the Rio Grande example...



Got it confirmed from Athearn that the D&RGW model will have a snow plow, though it was absent from this early example.

Eep! So much temptation....!

I remember when the SP started originating its retrun intermodal hotshots out of Clearing, there would sometimes be a Rio Grande Tunnel Motor in the consist. What a treat! That accelerating whine abdout to knock you over, but not before you could see though it! Ahh, those were the days...
