It runs sluggishly, but doesn't show any excessive wear on the treads. Is it
worth anything?

It is Varney, the shell appears to be metal, DC-60 Pittman motor & American Made. All the Life-Like Docksides had plastic boiler shells. Value: $10.00 - $20.00

Yes, it be metal of some kind. Hey Siding, you want this for your Tyco 12 wheel tender?

The piers are going up a bit at a time. Having to keep reconfiguring the loop to fit.

* Just looking at your photos I see the letter V in an oblong circle. This marks this loco as a Varney.

The oval V can also be found on some of the Revell Yard Hog 0-4-0 steam switchers. Kramer Brothers had an interest in both Varney and Revell in the late 1950s.
