I am always building something, and recently I got interested in making an extremely portable test track that's compact. I'd gotten this idea from a train show ( where else? ), saw a guy with a 4x4 and 8 foot long. I made mine much smaller, out of a 2x2 and only 3 foot long. I covered it in some sticky foam sheeting, and have so far put Marklin HO, N, and Z track on it. I'd been wanting some Marklin 3-rail test track, and had bought some some months ago at an antique store a few hours away for reasonable ( $8 for 10 pieces of straight track ). So I got busy, and got the track installed. I haven't wired it yet, thinking of just using jumper clips to a power supply. I may also put TT track ( 12mm ) on the 4th side . Then, I used some plastic slotted separator panels that my company had for storage bins that are not used at all, so I cut some down on the bandsaw at work, and am using those as end holders. It turned out rather well I think. Here's a picture of the (almost) final product.
