I just won an evilbay auction and these cars are included. Has anyone ever seen this type before? There are enough parts for me to restore them but I would liker to have an idea of what they are.

They may also be coal jimmies. Long ago, coal was hauled in little short cars like that from some of the mines in PA. I don't know much more about them than that.

OR they could be carts from UK! You know they used 4 wheeled goods cars

* They are the coal jimmies as Shaggy says. On early railroads like the Central Rail Road of New Jersey which had multiple tracks, they used these in special oar trains (Coal drags) on their mainlines. These trains went on this line loaded from the Wyoming Valley mines in Pennsylvania down to the coal docks, Port Johnson in Bayonne, NJ. These Jimmies are seen on many old postcards of Bayonne railroad scenes. frank

| I know at least one of the older kit companies made these, but for the life of me I can't remember who. Nice pieces for sure!

Thanks all. There are enough good pieces there so that I can make molds and remake the parts in resin. Might even make a small construct of them...

sim-al2 Also since they cut track maintaince the trains had huge trouble making over the railroad by the end 純那 yeah They did a Rock Island volountarily

Red Ball made a kit for these cars in conjunction to their more common 4-wheel flatcar. As I haven't been able to find any in real life I can't say if these are them, but yours look to be scratched from balsa wood, so I would say probably not. Nice find for sure, I love homemade oddball freight stuff like these
