I got an email last week from a local thrift shop, they had received some trains as a donation, and I picked them up yesterday. There were a dozen locomotives, and some old kit cars. My favorite is this Amtrak GG1. This one is in great shape, pantographs included. But, I have to sell them all. Who wants it for $15?

I replied to your PM.
While I'm here, I'll add another. AHM RS-2, Southern Pacific. This one was taken good care of. The handrails aren't broken!

I grabbed that RS2- I might try to fit an Alco body on it, if that fails, paint it PC, or might just leave it the way she sits. I have an interesting SP caboose that I might want to pair it to. Even though I am smack in the middle of SP country, my interests tend towards Northeast.
Mike, those Virginians are really neat. I'd no idea there were variations.

My LOTW is a hybrid. I haven't found out much about it yet. It's an HO scale Renfe diesel. When I searched on it, I found mostly N gauge versions. Same number 2161, same color, but all mostly in N gauge. This particular engine is just the original shell, someone put it on an Athearn Chassis, probably a PA-1 A unit. fits OK, but rides high. At any rate, will either modify a chassis to fit the body, or try to find a chassis for this engine. I like the looks of it, came out of my train shop a few yars ago, I just uncovered it recently while sorting through my train inventory in the basement.

Same number of axles, but Allegheny is Way heavier and more powerful.
Challengers were faster though and were used on heavy passenger trains, Alleghenys, not so much.
Jerry, looks like your unit has an Ibertren shell.

* Not only was it more powerful than the Challengers, but also the Big Boys. I don't know how they did it with so much weight being carried by the rear 6 wheel truck. frank

Really good footage, Micro. I've never seen that one before. My first reaction is that it appears like some of those crazy Mexican custom made hybrids of N de M vintage.

It's the same kit, by Arbour Models. HO. You'd have to contact The RailHead for a price.
