This spot came on in 2013; I had been badgering the local media to try to get
the El Paso Model Train Club some local exposure. Finally, they sent out a
camera guy on an hour's notice, and I grabbed anyone I could find, including
my teenage daughter and pal to set up some trains at the club. I was rather
hoping for a surge of community interest, but alas, this was not to be. Not
one new person turned up at the club after this aired. Overall lesson is that
we will not be able to sustain the club physical plant by dues, there needs to
be a corporate sponsor, which I have had a little success with doing, to finance
the larger needs (such as a good roof, etc). Being a Tyco guy, naturally my
thoughts turn to the major force that swept our beloved hobby:
