Was wondering what is a good sized hammer for setting rivets on valve gear?

Some say the 5 lb hammer is overkill. For smaller rivets, the 2 lb variety should do nicely. May have to replace your engine shell if you hit it too hard, though.

I'd probably start with a tack hammer, and if that's not enough work upward. Kind of sneak up on it. If it's not tight enough it can be hammered tighter, but if it's too tight, that's harder to undo.

When I built the Bowser H9, the kit came with a rivet tool. It's a small punch with the end shaped the way you want the rivet to end up flared. Did your kits come with that?
