Here are the pics that some of you were requesting. I am currently regrading the track as level was off bad. Had to dig trench a little deeper and then refill some to get track level. Look at pic closely to see how my back yard has a steep slant which is reason for the canyon look. It shouldn't flood with water but it is possible with a very hard rain over 2 days-hope not-it is level in the trench area and good base of p gravel. Gravel will soak up water. i will have more pics this evening and hopefuly a new video up.
This pic shows back of tracks in canyon.

This pic shows the slope in my yard from track view

another view of yard slope

Track Inspection(7-1-07) after heavy rains and storms for week of 6-25-6-30-07)= Roadbed in good condition-some settling of ballast occurred(expected)- 1 Fatality= Dead bird on straight section in the trench-possible cause=highwinds possibly slammed bird into trees above trench area and bird fell into trench area on tracks-scenario 2--bird slammed into trees knocked unconscious-fell onto tracks and drowned from standing water in trench as rains were very heavy. Note-no water standing in trench though after heavy rains but was flooded some during raining. pics below

Put a dress on it and some string and we could imagine Dudley DoRight riding hard to rescue poor Pearl Pureheart.
Nice work Brian, having just installed a fence and leveling out a back corner here I can really appreciate all the shovel & leveling work you are putting in there.
There is a place @1 1/2 hour drive from here where a group of model railroaders get together over the summer and run a lagre gauge railroad taking people for rides. Started out as just 2 tracks but has grown to a tunnel, suspension bridge, and roundhouse and at least 4 tracks. The first time I went there my first son was @4 months old (1977) and he was the youngest to ride so far. I think they have a web site, not positive, "Pennsylvania Live Steamers" or PLS if you want to do a search and maybe get an idea or 3

Then there is...the other possible reason...

Love the natural erosion effect, even on the track. Looks like a Class 2 branch line.

Interesting pics of your right of way following the rain. This is really a neat thing about G-scale, you get the same situations that hit real railroads...though I don't think UP or BNSF routinely has to remove giant dead birds straddling both rails...though who knows!

That's one heck of a slope in your yard! Isn't that ditch going to be a constant pain in the butt to maintain?
Now THAT'S how you buy ballast!
