Sometimes pieces wait in the junk box for years before a use is found for them. I've had this little blue plastic choo choo Keychain for years. The smokestack broke off long ago, and it was too bulky to be practical as a key chain. So it has sat in the junk bin for a long time... until tonight.

I had this idea kicking around in my head. I used the keychain, an HO scale bridge pier (cut down), a few pieces of stripwood, and some paint. About 30-40 minutes later, the O gauge layout has a new memorial/historic site marker for the town park.
